Following
the example of New York's 29th Street Saxophone Quartet, the HDQ
seek to find ways of playing without a rhythm section that support
improvisation and push the boundaries of what is expected of the
saxophone as a jazz instrument. Similar to a vocal ensemble, their's
is one of the most distinctive voices in Scottish music today.
